In the context of the Covid-19 pandemia and the difficulty, even impossibility, to maintain their organization, most events managed by the agency in 2020 will be postponed to 2021 or 2022.
The unpredictability of the medical rules which will still be in force in the Autumn and the uncertainty regarding the conditions of movements of the participants (air transport, accommodation, catering), all this has led the organizers of the events which were still planned for September and October to defer them until next year.
One should acknowledge the initiatives taken by Unimev (French Event Management Union) which has been lobbying since the beginning of the crisis with the various ministries, to support the MICE industry, its actors and their subcontractors, who are durably impacted economically.
With regard to the activity of the agency, inevitably slowed down, we are at the moment reprogramming the various events, the updating of the websites and sending e-mail campaigns to participants and sponsors.
Some scientific communities having expressed the need to communicate their work without delay, we had to reconsider our way of working. A first experiment of virtual conference is expected to take place at the end of July with the PHM Society.
While waiting for a “return to normal” (if that is ever going to be possible), let us re-invent ourselves to explore new challenges and foster new collaborations.
